Dear Parents, Students and Friends:
Welcome to the beginning of an exciting new year and our 24th year operating here in Lacombe!!! Classes begin Monday, September 16, 2019. We will dance until mid-December, then will break for Christmas, after our Christmas recital, which is Monday December 16, 2019. Classes resume January 6, 2020. The season ends with our year-end recitals on Thursday June 5 and Friday June 6, 2020. Other important dance dates will be posted on our calendar, as the year progresses. THE REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT AND RETURNED WITH THE REGISTRATION FEE BY THE FIRST CLASS ($15 PER CHILD). CLASS FEES - The monthly cost for one class per week is $48 (inc. GST). ALL CHEQUES FOR LESSONS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO ROSEDALE VALLEY SCHOOL OF DANCE . Payment is by way of post-dated cheque, cash or eTransfer at the beginning of the month. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A 10% DISCOUNT FOR PAYMENT IN FULL ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30, 2019. THERE IS ALSO A DISCOUNT IF YOU ARE PAYING FOR MULTIPLE CLASSES. This applies to families with more than one child taking lessons as well as for one child taking multiple lessons. (See Fee Schedule) COSTUME FEES - COSTUME FEES ARE DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION and are PAYABLE TO THE TEACHER OF THE CLASS. A costume fee of $50 is required for each dance your child is in. Generally, there will be one dance per class. PLEASE NOTE THAT, FOR HIP HOP CLASSES, THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA COST FOR SNEAKERS. There will be two costumes for the Sr. Musical Theatre Class. The costume materials are purchased by the teachers with the money collected from costume fees paid. You have paid for the costume and so it will be yours to keep! Please note that we try very hard to keep to this reasonable budget, which is not easy! If, despite our best efforts, the costume ends up going over budget, you will be billed for the extra. LACOMBE & DISTRICT PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL: Last year (2018/2019) the Lacombe Music Festival expanded to include DANCE. Most of our classes entered and had a wonderful experience. I feel that this is an excellent performance opportunity for our dancers. For several years we have been entering our Musical Theatre in this festival. It is technically a “competition” but it has more of a “workshop” vibe. The adjudicators are top-notch and it’s fun for the dancers to hear how they liked their performance and for them to receive helpful hints on how they can improve. There is an entry fee of $10 per dancer, per class. Solos, Duets, and Trios are also be welcome – their entry fee is $20. It takes place at the LMC around the beginning of May (exact dates TBA). Family and friends of dancers are welcome to come watch. Admission is by donation at the door. DANCE ATTIRE: Dance is a discipline. In order to run a class in the proper manner, the students are expected to dress and conduct themselves appropriately. Please become familiar with what our students are required to wear while attending class. Please see our dress policy sheet and refer to this before you purchase dance attire VIEWING POLICY: Our viewing policy is that parents DO NOT REMAIN IN THE CLASS. However, you are invited to come in for the last 10 to 15 minutes of the parent viewing week (see calendar). For very young children who find it a problem at first getting acclimatized, or if grandma arrives from out-of-town (for example), please speak to the teacher about making an exception. Please visit the bathroom and have a drink BEFORE class begins! No food is allowed in class. This includes gum chewing. Water bottles are allowed. REGISTRATION: You may register at any time by printing off the registration form and dropping it off at 30 Wildrose Street (front porch mailbox). Please attach registration fee ($15 per child), festival fee ($10 per dance), and costume fee ($50 per dance). (Registration and festival fees are payable to Rosedale Valley Dance. Costume Fees are payable to the teacher of the class, as noted on the class schedule.) ACTIVE LIVING FAIR - Come visit us at our booth at the LMC on Wed. September 11, 2019 between 4:00 and 7:00 pm! If you haven’t pre-registered, this is our “official” registration day. OPEN HOUSE/SHOE EXCHANGE: We will be holding an open house at the Studio on Friday, September 13, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Come and see the studio, drop off your registration forms and payments and perhaps find some good used shoes. If you have any shoes to sell or good-used dancewear such as bodysuits or leggings, please label them with size, price, and your name, and drop them off at the studio, preferably ahead of time. If you must purchase new shoes, we recommend June’s Fantasy Costumes in Red Deer. (Behind Great Canadian Wholesale on 67th & Taylor, #6, 6200 – 67A Street). Let the ladies know you’re from Rosedale Valley Dance, so they can get you the right dance gear. WEB-SITE: Our web-site is a great way to keep up on what’s happening at the studio. Information will also be posted on the bulletin board in the waiting room. Thanks for your support. We're looking forward to another great year!
