Types of DancesBALLET provides a base for all other forms of dance. It teaches poise, grace, and self-discipline while introducing free-flowing movement to classical and other graceful music. Ballet is a recommended class for tap and jazz dancers because it gives them a solid base in dance technique. We offer ballet to students 3 years and older.
TAP is a fun and exciting form of dance. With the help of special shoes, many tempos and rhythms may be explored. Tap also lends itself to many kinds of music - from the Charleston music of the Roaring 20’s to Rock’n Roll of the 50’s to the current Hip Hop beats of today and much more in between! We offer tap at our studio for ages 3 and older.
JAZZ is a fun and upbeat form of dance that uses popular music hits. Jazz class combines stretching, aerobic exercise, strength, and upbeat movement to create fun exciting routines. We offer Jazz for students primary level and older.
HIP HOP is the latest "video" style of dance. It is a funky, upbeat, free form of dancing. Students with a good feel for music and lots of “attitude” will do well at Hip Hop. We have mixed classes (for boys and girls) for all levels from Kinder to Teen. We also offer All Boy's Hip Hop Classes for ages 7-11.
LYRICAL is a beautiful combination of ballet and jazz and is an expression of emotion. Students must be enrolled in ballet to take lyrical.
POINTE BALLET is offered only to current ballet students whose technique and ability have reached a certain level.
CONTEMPORARY is a dance performance genre that developed during the mid twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. Must have 2 years previous dance experience or be enrolled in another core class.
POLYNESIAN DANCE explores the native dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, and other islands of the South Pacific. This genre will be included in our “special projects” which is offered by invitation to selected students.
ACRO (Acrobatic Dance) requires hard work to build flexibility, strength and control. It is a one-on-one class as students wait their turn to be spotted on the mats while learning to do different kinds of “tricks” such as backbends, cartwheels, walkovers, etc. Eventually these tricks will be set to music and joined together with basic dance moves to make a class routine for performance. We offer acro for students primary level and older.
MUSICAL THEATRE If you love to sing and act - as well as dance - this class is for you! We offer these classes to students who are Junior level and older. You will require jazz shoes for this class. This class is offered for primary, junior, and intermediate aged dancers,

Dance attire is an important part of learning to dance. A dress code lends a feeling of uniformity to the class. Baggy clothing and long pants make it impossible for the teacher to see your posture, movements and footwork. AS A GENERAL RULE, WE REQUIRE TAN TIGHTS AND A BLACK TANK BODYSUIT. HAIR MUST BE TIED BACK AND OFF THE FACE. FOR FOOTWEAR, SEE LIST BELOW.
TIGHTS: All classes, including ballet, wear tan tights. This makes it easier for dancers who are in multiple classes. Proper dance tights are required and are available at Fantasy Costumes in Red Deer. Absolutely no nylons! Some classes (such as Acro and Lyrical) require footless or adjustable tights. Please see list below.
PRESCHOOL & KINDER LEVELS

NOTE: Before you purchase new shoes, please remember that we have our shoe exchange at the studio, on the Friday after the Active Living Fair. There is also a limited supply of dance wear items.
