Dear Parents, Students and Friends:
Welcome to the beginning of a new dance season and our 25th year operating here in Lacombe! Classes are scheduled to begin the week of Monday, September 21, 2020. As we are all dealing with the uncertainties caused by the current pandemic, we have made our plans according to the current Phase 2 restrictions. Because of social distancing issues, we will not be running preschool classes, acrobatics or musical theatre classes. Fingers crossed that we will move forward (and not backward) with our progress! Barring any unforeseen setbacks, our plan is to dance until mid-December, do our Christmas Recital (date TBA) then break for Christmas holidays. Classes will resume January 4, 2021. The season ends with our year-end recitals on Thursday June 3 and Friday June 4, 2021. Other important dance dates will be posted on our calendar, as the year progresses. THE REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT AND RETURNED WITH THE REGISTRATION FEE BY THE FIRST CLASS ($15 PER CHILD).
THIS YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE UNCERTAINTY, WE KINDLY REQUEST THAT YOU PAY MONTHLY. WHEN WE ARE BACK TO ‘NORMAL’, YOU MAY DECIDE TO MAKE LUMP SUM PAYMENTS. WE WILL HONOR OUR 10% OFF POLICY (for full payment) AT THAT TIME. COSTUME FEES - COSTUME FEES ARE NORMALLY DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION, BUT WE WILL BE WAITING UNTIL JANUARY THIS YEAR. Please note that costume fees are PAYABLE TO THE TEACHER OF THE CLASS. A costume fee of $50 is required for each dance your child is in. Generally, there will be one dance per class. PLEASE NOTE THAT, FOR HIP HOP CLASSES, THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA COST FOR SNEAKERS. The costume materials are purchased by the teachers with the money collected from costume fees paid. You have paid for the costume and so it will be yours to keep! Please note that we try very hard to keep to this reasonable budget, which is not easy! If, despite our best efforts, the costume ends up going over budget, you will be billed for the extra. LACOMBE & DISTRICT PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL: Although we are a non-competitive studio, we do look for and enjoy cost-friendly chances to perform! Accordingly, we support our local Lacombe & District Performing Arts Festival. It is technically a “competition” but it has more of a “workshop” vibe. The adjudicators are top-notch and it’s fun for our dancers to hear how they liked their performance and for them to receive helpful hints on how they can improve. There is a small entry fee of $10 per dancer, per class. We will be collecting these fees in January. Solos, Duets, and Trios are also welcome – their entry fee is $20 per dancer. It takes place at the LMC around the end of April (exact dates TBA). Family and friends of dancers are welcome to come watch. Admission is by donation at the door. DANCE ATTIRE: Dance is a discipline. In order to run a class in the proper manner, the students are expected to dress and conduct themselves appropriately. Please become familiar with what our students are required to wear while attending class. Please see our dress policy sheet and refer to this before you purchase dance attire. Also, please make sure your dancer brings his/her own water bottle into class. VIEWING POLICY: Our viewing policy is that parents DO NOT REMAIN IN THE CLASS. We usually have parent viewing once per month, but we will have to see what the Covid rules will allow and keep you posted. COMMUNICATION: The majority of our communication is by email or texting. Information which is posted on our web-site will also be posted on the bulletin board in the waiting room. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your support. I am so hopeful that this season will bring lots of opportunity to enjoy learning to dance in a creative, joyful environment, and that it will also be a wonderful social experience for all who attend.
